AYRES Sensory Integration (ASI) Informed AssessmentÂ
Online & face to face in York & surrounding areasÂ
An ASI informed assessment is a detailed occupational therapy assessment for young people or adults where sensory processing and integration differences may be affecting everyday life.

The assessment considers how the brain receives, organises and responds to sensory information, including touch, movement, body awareness, visual and auditory information.

It also explores how sensory processing may affect regulation, motor planning, coordination, play, self-care, learning, behaviour and participation.

An ASI assessment may include:

-
Developmental and occupational history
-
Questionnaires and discussion of everyday sensory experiences
-
Clinical observations
-
Standardised and non-standardised assessment activities, where appropriate
-
Observation of movement, balance, posture, coordination and praxis
-
Consideration of participation at home, school and in the community
-
Feedback and tailored recommendations
-
A written report, where included in the agreed package

This assessment can help determine whether ASI-informed occupational therapy, environmental adaptations, sensory strategies or further support may be appropriate.

Assessment fee: From £400
Includes:Â Initial consultation, assessment appointments using standardised tools, scoring, clinical analysis, feedback and sensory plan.Â

Sensory Attachment Intervention (SAI) Informed Assessment
Online & face to face in York & surrounding areasÂ
A Sensory Attachment Informed Assessment explores the relationship between sensory processing, emotional regulation, attachment experiences, trauma and participation in daily life.

This assessment may be particularly relevant where a young person has experienced developmental trauma, disrupted attachment, adversity, placement instability, significant anxiety, relational difficulties or patterns of dysregulation that are not fully explained by sensory processing alone.
(Often helpful for adopted children or young people who have experienced significant developmental trauma).

The assessment aims to provide a compassionate and practical understanding of what may be happening beneath behaviour. It considers how a person’s sensory needs, nervous-system responses, relationships, environments and lived experiences influence their sense of safety, connection and ability to participate.

An SAI assessment may include:

-
Detailed history-taking with parents, carers or the individual
-
Exploration of sensory preferences, sensitivities and regulation patterns
-
Consideration of attachment, developmental and trauma-related experiences
-
Observation and occupational analysis
-
Identification of strengths, protective factors and co-regulation needs
-
Recommendations for home, school, care settings or therapeutic support
-
Feedback and a written formulation/report

Recommendations are designed to be realistic, relational and trauma-informed rather than relying on behaviour-management approaches alone.

Assessment fee: From £900
Includes:Â Completion of a Sensory Arousal Attachment Profile (SAAP) questionnaire, Initial consultation, assessment appointments using standardised tools, scoring, clinical analysis, feedback and sensory plan.
Report:Â A trauma impact chart and additional recommendation report is included as standard in this assessment.Â
Liaison with school, social care or other professionals:Â Included within agreed hours

An occupational formulation assessment provides an in-depth understanding of why someone may be finding everyday life difficult and what support is most likely to make a meaningful difference.

Rather than focusing only on a diagnosis, behaviour or isolated difficulty, an occupational formulation brings together the person’s strengths, needs, sensory profile, health, relationships, routines, environments, roles, interests and life experiences.

This assessment can be helpful when needs are complex, when several professionals are involved, when previous support has not led to meaningful change, or when a clearer plan is needed.

It may be appropriate for children, young people or adults experiencing difficulties with:

-
Regulation, overwhelm, anxiety or shutdown
-
School attendance, participation or transitions
-
Self-care, sleep, eating or daily routines
-
Community access and independence
-
Family life and relationships
-
Meaningful occupation, identity and confidence
-
Trauma-related barriers to participation
-
Sensory, executive-function or motor-planning differences

The resulting formulation identifies what is getting in the way of participation, what already helps, and what practical changes can be made across home, school, work, care and community environments.

Assessment fee: From £600
Includes:Â History-taking, assessment tools, observation of everyday functioning (shopping or cooking) where appropriate, formulation meeting and written report
Best suited to:Â Personal Independence Payment (PIP) evidence report, complex needs, multi-agency planning, support planning or anyone wanting a holistic (body, mind and environmental factors) occupational therapy perspective.
